If you love wildlife, you might want to keep a look out for the Vervet monkeys who inhabit the treetops in the valley across the way, or listen for the distinctive call of the beautiful Knysna Louries, so frequently seen in our garden, or marvel at the iridescent colours of the visiting sun birds seeking nectar.
If golf is your passion, there are many golf courses in the area from which to choose. Knysna alone has three 18 hole courses, the Knysna Golf Club and the two championship courses of Pezula and Simola. The world famous Fancourt Golf Club at George, which hosted the Presidents Cup in 2003 is but 40 minutes drive from here.
Knysna Heights Lodge is situated 5 minutes away from the town centre, with its array of shops, traders' stalls, the Knysna Mall and the Waterfront, from where you can take one of the various boat trips around the Lagoon and to the Featherbed Nature Reserve, or sample some of the excellent restaurants the Waterfront has to offer. In 10 minutes you can be on the child-friendly beach at Bollards Bay on Leisure Isle or you may want to try out the surf at Brenton-on-Sea, which is 20 minutes away.
No matter what your holiday preference, Knysna and its surrounds have something to offer everyone from simply relaxing on the beach at Brenton or Leisure Isle to gentle walks, serious hiking trails, mountain-biking, sailing, paragliding, canoeing, fishing, horse riding, tennis - the list of activities is endless as are places to go in the area.
